A snapshot of our curriculum...

RE

As part of our RE topic, we enjoyed a trip to the Metropolitan Cathedral in Liverpool.

Travelling Crib

Reverse Advent Calendar

This advent season, we decided to collect food for those less fortunate than us.

Maths

In Maths, we have been using rekenreks to help with our addition and subtraction within 20. We also used them as a visual for our numbers bonds to 10 and 20.

English

In English, we used Google Maps to help us explore London and learn about our capital city.

Science

Year 2 are learning about habitats in science and this week we are focusing on micro-habitats and mini-beasts. 🪱🐞🐜🕷🐌 We went on a hunt around the school grounds searching for mini-beasts...The children were very impressed with what they found… 🔎

We have also been learning about different materials and have been able to sort and organise natural and man-made items.

Art

In art, we have been learning how to use a variety of layers as this unit focuses on teaching children to explore and create maps through various art forms, including drawing, felt making, printmaking, and designing stained glass. The lessons developed skills in sorting, designing, and evaluating art, encouraging students to present and discuss their creations in a class gallery setting.

DT

As part of our DT learning, we used different materials to create tree toppers to go on top of our Christmas trees.

PE

We enjoyed taking part in Multi-Sports sessions, learning a variety of new skills. The children were supported by many of the students at Maricourt Catholic High School.
